A study of environmental protest posters presented in historically significant styles of 60s/70s design.
Speak Up will serve as an encouraging exhibition to motivate people to do their part in preserving our environment. The information will be presented as a set of posters inspired by design aesthetics of the 60s & 70s. This not only gives an interesting style of visual communication, but it also provides historical context as it marks the start of the modern environmental movement. By using this style to highlight important environmental information, I hope to draw people in and inspire them to take action in their own lives.
The poster content will come from redesigning various environmental protest signs. I wish to display these potent words in a new format where they can stand as a more formal art piece. I hope to grab the consciousness of viewers who may not typically pay attention to this sort of information. Protest settings contain an overwhelming amount of information at once, and my hope is to give some of these important ideas their own space to be observed.
